Sleigh Ride

It is a beautiful day today and we took advantage of it and went for a sleigh ride at Shelburne Farms. I'm not sure if Abel and I enjoyed it more or the boys. We also have gas heat again. The motor on our heater went out earlier in the week, so I guess we will see how expensive this electric heat really is (I am glad we had a back up).
I think we are going to try to take a nap since we stayed up until after 2 am watching that ugly Husker bowl game last night.
Happy New Year!

New Toys!

We have had so much fun playing with all of our new toys. It is fun now that Brodie is old enough to play games. We have been playing a lot of Break the Ice, Toy Story Memory, and Thomas Bingo/TicTacToe. Of course, it makes it a little more difficult to play with a little brother who wants to do everything Brodie does.
Isaac keeps talking more and more. It took ice cream for him to start saying "more." He is definitely his mother's son! He is saying baby, bear, bye, bye, but still hasn't tried saying Brodie.
Brodie has had fun "shaving" with his shaving kit from Santa. Brodie and Isaac like the new octopus bath toy. We can't wait to use it in Mexico!
I've been trying to get a good picture of both boys together. I've decided that it may be impossible. They do not hold still long enough nor look in the same direction, nor smile at the same time. I'm not sure how parent's do it with more than two children.

Train Table

Brodie has been so excited for us to take down the Christmas tree so we can put up the train table. So today, we took down the Christmas tree. Brodie and Isaac had fun helping Daddy put the table together. Isaac watched everything his big brother did and made sure he did everything just like Brodie and Daddy. We are very excited to put the tracks on tomorrow.

Happy Anniversary Grandpa and Grandma Buman. We hope it was a great day!

Christmas

We had a fantastic Christmas. The boys loved all of the presents! We had fun opening presents with the Bumans in Lincoln over the web cam. I'm not sure how we function the rest of the year when we don't have new toys everyday :). We were going to go over to a friends' house for supper, but Brodie has a nice rash, so we had to pass. Everyone is sick in the house except me. Hopefully, everyone will feel better soon!

Christmas Eve

We had a wonderful Christmas Eve. We made cinnamon rolls and chili. We at least started on the Christmas letter. We were going to go on a sleigh ride, but the boys are both are sick, so we decided against it.
Brodie is so excited for Santa. We have been watching the Santa tracker to see where Santa is tonight.
We are going to have Christmas at a friend's house tomorrow. We really wish we were with family this season, but are happy celebrating the real reason for this holiday - Jesus!

Here are a few more pictures from my parent's recent visit.

Crazy Day!

It has been a crazy day here. First, we were going to make a quick stop at Wal-mart before going to the library. Well, when we returned to the parking lot at Wal-mart, I realized that I had locked the keys in the car. So, we were stuck in Wal-mart until Abel could come get us over his lunch break. Then Isaac fell asleep on the car ride home and so did not take an afternoon nap.

The original plan had been to cook when the boys' took a nap, but obviously that plan was out the door. I made mint thins, cookie dough truffles, and Mom's caramel popcorn. When I was making the caramel for the corn, Brodie woke up, and in my rush I added peppermint to the caramel instead of vanilla. Anyone want some peppermint caramel corn?
I thought I was going to have an easy supper since I had some homemade pasta from a co-worker, but when I went to make the sauce, I realized I didn't have any onions. I also added some fresh parsley that I had on hand. Well, Brodie wouldn't even try it because he saw green parsley leaves and I must admit it wasn't very good without onions. Good thing Isaac enjoyed it although he doesn't eat anymore unless he feeds himself, so needless to say, he was a mess. All in all it was a fun, crazy day.
By the way, I love the mint thins. I still have to try the truffles. I always love the popcorn!
Only one more day of work for the week!!!
I'm not sure how the house gets more messy on my days off. There is supposed to be some cleaning going on somewhere in the day - I am just sure of it.

Making cookies

Grandma and Brodie had fun making Christmas cookies. Of course we had to have a lot of blue frosting and just a few sprinkles. Isaac helped by licking the beater, playing with the cut-outs, and cleaning out one of Mom's cupboards.

Gingerbread Train

Brodie and Grandma Buman had lot of fun making a gingerbread train and Grandpa and Brodie had a lot of fun eating the train this past week. Brodie wouldn't let anybody eat the train until Grandpa got back from his meeting.
