Music

Overheard by Mesha who was upstairs doing laundry:
Abel (who had recently finished working a 24 + hour shift) says to Brodie (who is repeatedly blowing into a recorder): "Are you trying to be annoying or just trying to make music?"
Brodie: "I am trying to make music"
Abel: "Oh....it sounds very nice"
The funniest part was that Abel used a very sincere and nice voice the entire time. I could not stop laughing from upstairs.

Play time

We had a fun day Wednesday. Brodie has been wanting to make a snowman all winter. So, I agreed to make one with him on my day off. The snow did not want to participate in our plan. I could not get the snow to pack, so we had to make a very small snowman that Brodie proceeded to kick down as soon as it was made :)
Brodie has also been wanting to play "soapy water," so I let him "clean" some of my dishes. He kept asking if Grandma Buman was going to come play with him :)
We decided to get the piggy bank down recently. At first Isaac could not get the coins into the small hole in the bank, but after watching his brother, he figured it out. He loves putting coins into the monkey bank and hearing it make noises (thanks Aunt Jodi and Uncle Rob).
I didn't think it would ever happen, but Brodie is starting to give into Isaac. If Isaac whines enough, Brodie gives him whatever he wants. I'm just hoping this whining stage goes away soon!

All kinds of fun

Isaac now thinks that he needs to walk down the stairs like his big brother. He puts his hands on the wall and walks down the steps. He can walk down the entire flight of stairs. He is walking more and more all of the time. He definitely lets us know what he wants. At least he listens so far when we tell him no. He also really enjoys looking at books. He grabs a book and then climbs into your lap.
We were going through some clothes that a friend gave us for Brodie. Brodie decided to keep putting each new pair of pants he came across on....on top of the other pants he already had on. He ended up with 4 pairs of pants on at the same time. He kept them all on until Abel got home at 8:15 so he could show Daddy.
Here are a few pictures of Brodie coloring with Daddy this weekend also.

Winter Wonderland

There hasn't been too much excitement here lately. There is new snow everyday, but nothing like that 33 inches in 24 hours last year. Isaac is starting to take steps in between objects now instead of only to a person. Brodie is so proud of him when he walks. Brodie is always trying to teach him new words also. Isaac will frequently try to repeat what Brodie says, but since the words are usually random, I don't think he knows what he is saying :) Brodie was shoving Isaac's hat on his head in the pictures above. He looks so stylish with food on his face :).
We have also decided that Isaac eats like Grandpa Luksan. He is always the last one finished eating and is happy as can be to just sit at the table and keep eating and eating and eating. He doesn't necessarily eat a lot; I think he just enjoys the eating process or he may just be slow.

Steps

I finally grabbed the camera to get some video of Isaac walking. It is not the best video because my plan and Isaac's plan were not exactly the same, but at least there are a few steps on the video. We had a great weekend! Abel did not have to work and Isaac slept in until 7:30 on Sunday. Life is good!

Someone is taking steps!

Isaac has been taking a few steps the last few days. He looks so proud when he does it. I actually think he probably did it first at daycare. Stephanie told me a few days ago, "I think he is really close to walking." I just need to try to get the camera ready for him.
We have had quite a bit of snow today. I need to get a bowl out to make some snow ice cream!

Let it snow!

We had fun playing in the snow this morning before church. Abel and Brodie shoveled the sidewalk and cleaned the snow off the car. We then took the boys sledding...well not really sledding. We just pulled them in the sleds and then found a pile of snow for Brodie to slide down. We may have to look for actual hills next time. Both boys had fun although I think Isaac's favorite part was seeing a dog that walked by.

Growing kids!

I think Brodie just grew a few inches in the last week or maybe overnight. All of his pants are too short and he looks like he just sprouted up. It seemed like he grew out first and then up. Amazing!

Isaac finally hit the 20 pound mark, so now he is legally facing forward in his carseat :).

I am finally down to my pre-pregnancy weight and can fit into my clothes -yeah. Wow, that sure took a long time after the second one.

We have a pretty laid back weekend. Abel doesn't have to work so that is wonderful. We may have to get the sleds out and enjoy the snow!

Days off

Daycare was closed Monday and Tuesday this week so I got to stay home with the boys. We have had a lot of fun. We went to the library yesterday and listened to Raphael play a guitar and sing songs. There were a ton of kids who sang along and danced. Both boys really liked it. It snowed a little today, but not enough to go play in. We can see the grass again.
I made gyros tonight for the first time. They were good, but I did not start early enough and everyone was starving by the time they were finished. The pita bread didn't turn out exactly as it was supposed to either, but it still tasted good.

Warm January Day!

It was nearly 50 degrees yesterday and I think all of the snow melted. It was a great day to go for a walk in the puddles. Brodie had a blast. There were only a few minor falls that Daddy made all better. It is only a matter of time before Isaac is jumping in the puddles also.

Isaac was a very good helper in the kitchen today. He likes to unload the dishwasher and loves to lick the dough off of the beater. It doesn't matter what I am making, he always stands next to me saying "eat, eat, eat" when I am using the mixer. Today he ate bread dough just like it was cookie dough. I think he may get that from his mother. I am going to have to make sure that I keep the dishwasher door closed, because he thinks he can just crawl right in.
