Poor Brodie threw up Friday morning, so we kept him home from school. Abel didn't got into work until 1:00, so I got Brodie cleaned up and put him on the couch before I ran out the door. Brodie asked if he could watch Spider Man and handed me the DVD which I put in the DVD player before I walked out the door. When I came home later, I went to check on him and he was watching the real Spider Man movie, the one that is probably rated PG-13. I said, "Dad is letting you watch this Spider Man?" and he says, "no this is the one you put in the DVD player." Ooops (I thought he had been watching the cartoon version).
Later in the day, he hadn't thrown up anymore and seemed better. Well, I got to thinking that Mother's Day was this weekend and we hadn't sent any cards yet. I thought the Scottsbluff post office had a mail pick up at 5:30, so I drug the boys out of the house to go pick out Mother's Day cards and drop them off at the post office. At first, Brodie was talkative and helpful picking out a card. But then he grabs me and says he doesn't feel good and wants me to hold him. I had him sit on the ground while I grabbed one more card. I then looked over at him and he is laying on the ground. When I asked him what was wrong, he said, his ears were buzzing and he was ghost white. I kept thinking that I had all the cards I needed and just needed to pay for them. I could see the check out line from the card section, so I said told him to stay there while I paid. As I was paying, I hear Brodie violently coughing. I look over at him and he is laying on the ground coughing and someone is reaching over him looking at cards. Oh my, what an awful mother. Not only did I drag poor Brodie out when he felt awful, we also probably spread his germs all over Walgreens and that poor lady that was looking for a Mother's Day card over the top of Brodie.
After all of that, the post office had already made their last pick up of the day.
Saturday was a much better day. Brodie wasn't up to eating as much as usual, but he was more active and happy. He also proceeded to tell everyone we saw that he was vomiting the day before. He somehow had his best soccer game of the year also. There were 9 players on the other team and only 4 on his. So, he played for the entire game 4 players against 5 and his team won. He was pale and exhausted when he got done, but was happy his team won.
I had a great Mother's days on Sunday. We went to church, ate at my favorite restaurant in town, and my guys put together a composter for me (I have been waiting to start composting since we moved here). Somehow Brodie convinced his parents that since he had already watched a Spider Man movie on Friday, he could watch the new one in the movie theater. Again, I don't think this was our smartest parenting move ever, but the boys seemed to enjoy the movie.
