More signs of spring!

Even though it snowed this weekend, the weather had been nice before that.  We have climbed up the Monument twice, planted seeds for the garden, did a little spring cleaning, started making May baskets, and are watching our caterpillars grow.

Ready to climb the Monument

Isaac made it further than he ever has before.

I love going for walks with my guys!

Apparently there were 100 mile/hr wind gusts at the Monument today.  I don't think we will be going back until this cold wind goes away (hopefully soon)!

Time to plant some seeds:
I love that the boys like helping me plant the starter seeds!

Brodie's are ready to go

Isaac's seeds are ready for some water

Just a little mess to clean up

Making some May day baskets:

Mixing up some clay, compost, and flower seeds for seed bombs.
And yes, Brodie did try to cut his hair again.

Isaac is rolling up some seed bombs for the baskets - I hope they work

The boys wanted to clean the windows and they did a very good job!

We've had some fun inside also.  Isaac loves to help me make cookies when Brodie is at school.

My heart is happy when I see him smiling and helping me in the kitchen

OK, maybe this is the real reason he likes to help :)

The boys and I had fun making ice cream cone rice krispy treats for Isaac's school party.

Thanks to Abel for getting up on his post call morning to make something to transport the treats in.

Here are the little caterpillars from last week.  Now they are big and juicy.  We can't wait to see them when they are butterflies!

Happy Spring!

Easter Sunday!

It was a fabulous day celebrating the most important day of the year!  We slept in a little until the sun was shining through the windows.  Brodie was up first and found a clue to begin a scavenger hunt for their eggs and baskets.

Brodie had to come encourage Isaac to get out of bed for the fun

Simba wanted to be apart of the fun

There's a clue there somewhere

Trying to find the clue under the table
They finally found the loot

We went to church, played a little, worked outside a little, and then played some more.

The boys made these earlier in the week.  The grass didn't come in very good, but we had fun making them.

"Look, the balloon is stuck to my arm!"

I played some mancala with the boys.

They are taunting me here

We ate some smoked brisket, talked to Grandpa and Grandma on the computer, and opened up some yummy Easter candy.

It was a wonderful day!

I am so glad the tomb was empty!!  Our savior lives!!

Happy Easter!

We had another fun day!  We got some wood for winter.  The boys were a lot of help loading and unloading the truck.  They even wanted to unload some of the wood when we were making supper.

We made resurrection rolls today.  The boys rolled marshmallows (representing Jesus body) in butter (representing the embalming oils) and then in cinnamon sugar (representing the spices used to prepare Jesus body for burial).  Then we wrapped the marshmallows in a cresent roll representing the cloth Jesus body was wrapped in.   We put them in the oven (representing the tomb).  After coming out of the oven, the marshmallow was gone.

Preparing the marshmallows

Checking to see if the marshmallow is there

They were pretty good to eat also :)

We had fun dying Easter eggs today also!

Ahhh...spring!

It's starting to feel a lot like spring and we are loving it!  We ate supper outside tonight for the first time this year.  The birds were chirping and the boys were running around outside laughing as I was doing dishes.  I love the spring!

Abel and the boys put together the grill tonight.  I am so excited to start eating yummy grilled food again!

Helping Daddy with the grill

Brotherly love?

Checking out the grill

Simba is not sure he likes the gate keeping him away from the grill

Hopefully we can get some work done outside today!
