We drove through Rocky Mountain National Park to get to our next stop on our vacation.
It was a beautiful drive. |
See the snow still on the ground? |
We found a nice place for a picnic lunch.
We weren't sure what our next camp site would be like, but Yampa River State Park was great!
Ahh..now this is the life! |
Time to make s'mores |
Yum! |
We went hiking to Fish Creek Falls. It was an easy hike to the first set of water falls.
Of course we had to get off the easy, paved trail and get into the icy cold water.
We decided to hike up to the second water fall. The path started off easy to see and follow.
But the path then became harder to see. We weren't sure we were going to make it to the falls. The only thing keeping us sure we weren't lost was the sound of running water that we kept to our left as we climbed up.
We found some beautiful views, but not the water fall |
And then we wandered onto a big path again!
Now to get down to the water |
Isaac getting some help from Daddy |
Made it |
We were all supposed to get into the water for the picture, but it was too cold for me |
Climbing back out! |
A little help again |
As we were heading down (I'm always slow going down), Isaac says to me, "Mom, just do what I'm doing.....unless I get a scrape, then don't do what I'm doing." |
When we got back to the first falls, the boys wanted to go all the way across the river without using the bridge.
Trying to find the best spot to start |
figuring out the best way across |
Dad's got it figured out |
It took me several minutes in the middle of the river to decide if I was going to jump from one rock to another or just go back and go across the bridge. I finally tried the jump, made it, and was happy I didn't go over the bridge. It was a great morning of hiking!
